Inspired by Mitochondrial Eve, the most recent common matrilineal ancestor of all living humans, the experience invites groups to gather around one extraordinary, shared story: the story of humanity itself.

Since the beginning of humanity, people have gathered in community to tell stories, celebrate milestones, honor ancestors, share traditions, and create together. Around fires. Around tables. Around sacred spaces. Around works of art. The #YouPaintME™ ME Doll Group Experience continues that tradition.

ME Doll is more than a positive representation or affirming Black doll. She is The Black Doll Affair's human family heirloom and educational ARTifact, designed to open guided conversations about identity, ancestry, race, representation, and our shared humanity, while reminding us that beneath differences of color, culture, language, and geography, we remain part of one human family.

Through creative expression, thoughtful questions, and age-appropriate racial literacy activities, participants explore how we see ourselves, how we learn to see others, and how inherited ideas about color can be questioned and changed.

During The Black Doll Affair's facilitated ME Doll workshop experiences, participants do more than paint their doll. They create, converse, and carry the experience forward.
