What is The Black Doll Affair?
The Black Doll Affair® is an award-winning philanthropic organization, self-esteem movement, and social community dedicated to helping Black girls and women recognize their beauty, worth, and value while inspiring meaningful conversations about identity, belonging, and our shared humanity.
What is the ME Doll?
The ME Doll is inspired by Mitochondrial Eve, the African mother of humanity, and was created to help end racism by inspiring conversations about ancestry, identity, race, and our shared origin as one human family.
It isn’t just a doll. It’s a conversation.
Why is it called the ME Doll?
The name “ME” stands for Mitochondrial Eve, the scientific name given to the woman from whom all living humans inherit their mitochondrial DNA.

Before there was WE… there was ME.
What does “Bestow ME” mean?
To bestow means to present something as an honor or gift.
At The Black Doll Affair, we don’t simply give dolls - we bestow them.

The Black Doll Affair celebrates Black women and girls while welcoming everyone who believes in kindness, service, inclusion, and meaningful conversations.
